King Healthcare are currently assisting a private clinic based in Harley Street in their search for a Senior Medical Fellow - Medical Retina & Imaging. Working alongside one of the worlds most renowned Medical and Surgical Retina Specialist, this role represents an excellent opportunity for a Fellow looking to develop their career, work with cutting edge ophthalmic technology and some of the most experienced staff the world over.

The Role

This Senior Medical Fellowship offers an unparalleled opportunity for a highly motivated ophthalmologist to gain advanced medical retina and imaging experience within a clinical role. The fellow will work closely with one of the worlds leading Ophthalmic professors and the senior clinical team in both our clinical and research settings. The successful fellow will assist in theatre and support the surgical pathway.

Clinical & Imaging (Non-Surgical)

  • Run medical retina clinics semi-independently under senior oversight.
  • Lead and interpret advanced imaging (OCT/OCTA, FAF, FFA/ICG, ultrawidefield).
  • Deliver intravitreal injections and medical retinal laser (within credentialed scope).
  • Assist in theatre: patient preparation, list coordination, documentation (non-scrub role).
  • Produce clear, timely correspondence for patients and referrers.


Research & Clinical Trials

  • Screen, consent, recruit and follow patients in commercial and investigator-initiated trials (GA, AMD, diabetic eye disease, vitreous floaters).
  • Ensure GCP-compliant documentation, data integrity and protocol adherence.
  • Contribute to scientific outputs: abstracts, posters and conference presentations.


Governance, Teaching & Service

  • Participate in MDTs, case discussions and protocol reviews.
  • Contribute to clinical operations, identifying and improving process efficiency.
  • Provide supervision and bedside teaching to junior fellows, imagers and visiting clinicians.

The Candidate

The successful candidate for this role will need to hold a medical degree with 2 years post foundation ophthalmology training. You’ll need a GMC licence to practice, be able to demonstrate your competence in retinal assessment and imaging interpretation and be experienced within intravitreal therapy and/or retinal laser. It will be a distinct advantage if you have previously published research or given presentations at scientific meetings and have prior experience in clinical research or GCP-certified trials. It would be desirable to be familiar with adaptive optics, microperimetry, electrophysiology and AI assisted imaging.

Salary and Benefits

The salary on offer for this position is circa £75,000 dependent on experience. In addition is a performance related bonus of £15,000 with targets agreed prior to commencement of the role. There is also a generous employee package consisting of private healthcare and private pension with further details to be discussed at interview.
